Manifesting Sweet Cold Water on a Scorching Train

तपती रेलगाड़ी में शीतल जल की वर्षा — यात्रियों की प्यास बुझाना

Transforming a sweltering railway journey into an oasis of divine relief

Sacred Location: Passenger Train between Moradabad and Bareilly
Recorded Eyewitnesses: Passenger Train Travelers, Station Railway Staff

During the scorching heat of May in northern India, a passenger train came to an unexpected standstill between stations on a remote rural stretch. The metal carriages turned into ovens under the blistering midday sun.

Hours passed. The train’s water tanks were empty, and there was no river or station in sight. Cries of distress arose as small children and elderly passengers began fainting from severe heat exhaustion and dehydration.

Maharaj Ji, dressed in his customary humble cloth, was sitting in the corner of a crowded third-class compartment. Seeing the suffering of a dehydrated infant in its mother’s arms, his heart melted with compassion.

He called a young passenger holding an empty brass water vessel (lota) and said: "Child, stick your lota outside the window and hold it out into the hot air."

The passengers thought the sadhu was delirious from heat. The young man hesitated, but obeying Baba’s piercing command, he reached his hand and the dry vessel outside the window into the dusty hot breeze.

Instantly, right before the astonished eyes of the entire carriage, a crystal-clear, ice-cold stream of mountain spring water began pouring out of empty space into the brass pot, filling it to overflowing within seconds. The water was chilled as if straight from a Himalayan glacier, sweet to taste and smelling of mountain herbs.

Maharaj Ji instructed the young man: "Go, give water to the children first, then the mothers, then everyone." Devotees passed the lota from hand to hand. No matter how many cups were poured, the brass lota remained perpetually full until every single passenger in the coach had quenched their thirst.

"God has provided everything in abundance. Only human greed creates thirst."

— Shri Neem Karoli Baba Maharaj Ji
